Living in a Residential Park or Village?

A Village/Park where residents can live in affordable housing

Is a quiet and safe and secure environment in which to reside.

Residents own their own homes but pay site fees for the land.

Site fees vary from Village to Village but all fees include the costs for:-

Water Rates

Council Rates
-
Rubbish Collection
-
Streets and street lighting
-
Halls and amenities may vary from Park to Park.

Residents usually have the choices of many and varied things they can do at the Village.

Activities can range from, bowls (indoor), darts, card games, keep fit, billiards, swimming pool, gymnasium, vegetable gardens and dances. (activities vary in individual Villages)

Villages have a Residents Committee that looks to the welfare of residents with their management. These committees are recognized by the Residential Parks Act 2007.

Villages usually have a Social Committee that caters for the social needs of the Park as outlined in (6) above.

There is a minimum age for residents to live on the Park and that is 50 years in most cases.
Electricity, gas, phone charges and maintenance of the home as well as insurance of home and contents are the house owner’s responsibility.
Residents may be eligible on application for concessions through the appropriate Government departments. Concessions may be granted for, Council Rates, Water Rates, Mains Gas, Electricity, Phone and Rent assistance.
In South Australia there are “Dedicated” Residential Villages located Goolwa, Victor Harbour, Elizabeth, Virginia and Hillier.
There are Caravan Parks that have permanent residents also located around this State.
